How to remove Footer links (Site Map, Search Terms, Advanced Search, Contact Us)

Open to edit
[YourMagentoDir] / app / design / frontend / base / default / layout / page.xml

Remove or comment out:

If you want "contact us" link remain in the footer

Copy file
[YourMagentoDir] / app / design / frontend / base / default / template / page / template / links.phtml

to [YourMagentoDir] / app / design / frontend / default / [YourSkin] / template / page / template folder

It is necessary to replace the content links.phtml with

where 'contacts' is the part of the way http://yoursite.com/contacts/
